With the arrival of Joe Biden at the White House, there have been real prerequisites for the restoration of the Iran nuclear deal. Will it be a return to the previous agreement, or it will be necessary to add new articles, because of which the United States under Donald Trump withdrew from the deal earlier in 2018, considering it insufficiently tough and not covering all vital issues. But do the additional articles for the JCPOA meet Russia's interests, and does it need the Iran deal at all?

On November 15, PIR Center will hold the III International Timerbaev Nuclear Debates. This year they will bring together students and young specialists in the field of global security from Russia and foreign countries, from domestic and foreign universities and international organizations. There will be students and young specialists from MGIMO University, Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (USA), MEPhI, Ural Federal University (UrFU), PIR Center and members of the CTBTO Youth Group among the participants of the III International Timerbaev Nuclear Debates. The applications of each of the teams were registered, and the debaters themselves were pre-selected by universities and organizations they represent. As a special feature of the III International Timerbaev Nuclear Debates, each team of debaters will have its own mentor from the nonproliferation, disarmament and global security experts.

On October 14 and 15, a wide range of materials was presented at the book fair within the framework of the 13th Russian International Studies Association (RISA) Convention at the stand of PIR Center: Security Index occasional papers, "White Papers" on nonproliferation, books by leading Russian experts in the field of arms control, Iran nuclear issues, cybersecurity and international security. The guests could get acquainted with them, as well as ask questions about the activities of PIR Center and its information products, such as e-journal Yaderny Kontrol, email newsletter PIR Press News, series of analytical reports Security Index, etc.

On October 14, PIR Center held an expert seminar “Elements of the Strategic Equation: How to Build Arms Control in a New Era” within the framework of the XIII Convention of the Russian International Studies Association (RISA). Among the participants are employees of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, IMEMO, ISKRAN, MGIMO, UrFU, PIR Center Advisory Board members, as well as students and teachers of regional universities. The discussion was moderated by Sergey Semenov, coordinator of PIR Center Nuclear Nonproliferation & Russia Program.
