"In youth, it is especially important to be attentive to yourself and your life. After all, it is at this time that the foundation, the framework of the entire future life of a person is laid. As one Dagestan proverb says, "The most valuable thing in life is a person." This saying has a very valuable meaning," Lyudmila Balandina, correspondent and editor of the first issues of the journal Yaderny Kontrol.

From the moment of its foundation, one of the PIR Center's priorities has been the publication of academic periodicals and monographs devoted to the issues of international security and the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction.  To a great extent, the recognition of the PIR Center in the academic world, business community, and political circles is due to the demand for the organization's main publication, the Security Index journal in its Russian and International editions (before 2007 - Yaderny Kontrol).

High-ranking Russian and foreign politicians not merely read the journal but also express on its pages their views on international security issues. The journal authors include Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and the Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Executive Secretary of the CTBTO, Ambassador Tibor Tóth, Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen and many others.

Since 2000, the PIR Center has been publishing monographs of the PIR Center Library series. Those include the two-volume textbook for Russian higher education institutions Nuclear Nonproliferation the guideboook Global Partnership Against The Spread Of Weapons Of Mass Destruction, the report Russians on the Threat of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism, and others.

During the years PIR Center has also extensivly published on the diversity of global security, nonproliferation and arms control problems. In particular, these include PIR Study Papers: Russia and Global Security (since 1996), the series of PIR Center Reports (1997-2000), the journals Missile and Outer Space, Chemical weapons and problems of its destruction, Export of conventional arms. The latter became the basis for the journal Eksport Vooruzheniy edited by the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies.
